Zifeng Zhu

Zifeng was awarded a 2016 Richter Scholarship to address the question: China and Japan were both given historic opportunity to industrialize, why only Japan successfully rebuilt itself along western lines and became a major power in the early 20th centuries? What factors impeded China from advancing? Zifeng wants to go to Japan to find the answer.
